This Doctoral Consortium is a part of the 15th International Conference on Exploring Service Science (IESS), scheduled for February 5-7, 2025, in Naples, Italy (iess.online)
The 1st “IESS 2.5 Junior Faculty and Doctoral Consortium 2025” is planned in the same venue on the first day of the conference on Wednesday (February 5).

CONTEXT AND OBJECTIVES
Building upon the momentum of prior editions of IESS conferences and workshops, the forthcoming IESS Doctoral Consortium seeks to delve into the pivotal role of the IESS community in creating and shaping the future of Service Science studies. This exploration aims to support the PhD students and junior researchers in their careers fostering transdisciplinary service ecosystems and addressing pressing global academic, social, and business challenges.
This highly interactive Doctoral Consortium is designed with the following objectives in mind:
- Inspiring: Share research ideas and thoughts creating a great meeting between PhD students and junior r- esearchers with senior researchers.
- Integrating and Collaboration: Unite diverse researchers from several fields and areas to foster and sustain a productive and successful sharing meeting.
- Road mapping: Collaborate to define future research trends for integrating research to effectively meet social and business challenges.
- Service Science Awareness: Improve awareness and understanding of the latest advancements in service science and its practical applications.
INVITATION
We cordially invite PhD students and junior researchers to participate in activating a stimulating and intriguing debate about their research interests and possible future developments. You can contribute by submitting your work to enrich the community or engage in informative discussions and idea exchange, contributing to integrating startups in societal development through service science.
SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
We encourage PhD students and junior researchers to submit their research proposals as position papers or slide presentations, limited to a maximum of five (5) pages or slides, through the EASYCHAIR platform. To submit, please follow the provided link: https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=iess25. If you’re new to the platform, signing up is required. Select your role as an author (PhD student/junior researcher) and complete the necessary forms providing citation details, including author names, a title, an abstract, and keywords. To ensure proper classification, choose the Doctoral Consortium track for your submission and upload your paper or slides.
REVIEW CRITERIA
Submitted research proposals will be evaluated based on the following criteria:
- Coherence of Ideas: The coherence and clarity of the core concepts presented in the submission.
- Methodology: The quality and robustness of the research methodology or approach employed.
- Relevance: The submission’s alignment with the doctoral consortium’s objectives and scope.
- Significance: The implications and impact of the work in addressing challenges and contributing to service science.
- Overall Impression: The general coherence and impression created by the entire submission.
- Expression Style: The clarity and effectiveness of writing or presentation style.
- Visual Presentation: The quality and effectiveness of any visual aids or presentations.
Authors are encouraged to ensure their submissions align with these criteria for optimal consideration during review.
